I have a puppy!
I have an adorable hound puppy named Curry. Technically he’s not MY puppy because I’m fostering him through the Suntree-Viera Pet Rescue. He is about three months old and he loves to snuggle…and chew on everything. He is especially fond of my shoes and socks including when they are on my feet. We blocked off part of the house and are working on potty and crate training with him. Grant is staying with Devin’s parents for two days while his vaccinations kick in and Curry can have some time to get adjusted to his new home. Hopefully they will like playing with each other. I have a puppy!!!

Enchanted Forest Sanctuary
Devin and I went to the Enchanted Forest Sanctuary today and did a letter box. The Enchanted Forest is a 428-acre park that has walking trails through it. There are a bunch of holey rocks, a butterfly garden, and five different types of habitats. I really wanted to climb on the rocks but there was a sign saying not to. The butterfly garden had a little creek with water coming up through a hole in a large rock, probably how all of the holey rocks were created. We mostly saw swallow tail butterflies, banana spiders, and lizards (or in the enchanted forest...dragons). It was very hot out but we both had backpacks with water. There is also a nature center that has some niffty macroscopes, a discovery room, and a library.

Sea turtles are amazing!
So today I fiiiiiiiiinally got my Florida license plate. I really didn’t need to wait so long since they didn’t make me show any proof of residence or fill out any paperwork or really do much at all. So much easier than Wisconsin. I picked the Protect our Reefs plate; it was a tossup between that one and the sea turtle one. I also purchased my fishing license while I was there so now I can go fishing.
Speaking of sea turtles, Devin met me after work at the Motel (and he brought be chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream) to watch for sea turtles. On our way back down the beach we saw a sea turtle, I think a loggerhead, digging her whole. We stayed the entire time and watched her lay her eggs and make her way back to the ocean. She was so calm and purposeful the entire time; it looked very tiring. It was amazing. AMAZING. Probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. The pictures are pretty terrible since I didn’t use a flash (light can confuse them) until she was back in the water and far away. If you ever have a chance to watch a sea turtle do it.

I'm a quarter of a century old today
So today I turned a quarter of a century old which makes me feel really old. Part of me really wishes I was home for my birthday; I really missed everyone. Devin told me I could pick any dessert I wanted for my special turning old day so he made me a key lime daiquiri pound cake which was overly delicious (I probably ate too much cake in the following days). We went to the zoo which was lots of fun. Devin was harassed by one of the parrots in the aviary and we got to see the otters being fed and they were, of course, unbelievably adorable. After the zoo I relaxed on the beach for a while and read a book I picked up at the library. That night I headed downtown with Meredith (Devin’s roommate’s girlfriend) and we had a couple drinks at Meg O’Malley’s (Tuba, Mollie, Jake – if you ever visit me I must take you here). Then we joined up with Devin and Noah and played a couple games of pool. Overall it was a very good birthday.

Car troubles
Well the last two days have been very interesting. Wednesday night Devin and I drove down to West Palm Beach in a convertible he borrowed from his friend Wendy to go to a No Doubt/Paramore concert. I was super excited about the concert since both those bands rock and I haven’t been to a concert in a very long time. Unfortunately we never made it. When we exited the highway in Palm Beach the car refused to shift gears so we managed to get to a gas station where Devin then started pulling the tire off the car trying to look at the transmission. Eventually it was determined that the clutch had gone out which left us pretty stuck. Devin came close to arranging a ride home for us but it eventually fell through. We had our picnic lunch next to the gas station and then headed over to Kmart to kill some time until the ride that we thought was coming for us arrived. The first picture is of us in one of those plastic play houses. When we realized it didn’t look like we were going to get home that night we took a cab to the nearest Marriott chain hotel which happened to be a Fairfield in Jupiter to spend the night (see me jumping on the bed). First thing in the morning we rented a car and drove back to Melbourne. Then we picked up Devin’s truck (which Wendy had) and borrowed a trailer from the neighbor across the street. We loaded the rental car on the trailer so that we wouldn’t have to pay for gas back. Before we even left the neighborhood we blew out one of the tires on the trailer so we had to unload the rental car, jack up the trailer, and drive to a tire place to get a new tire. Then we (and by we I mean Devin) put the new tire on, reattached the trailer, and reloaded the rental car. We drove back down to Palm Beach, unloaded the rental car, and loaded the Miata. I REALLY do not like driving cars up and down the trailer ramps and I REALLY don’t like the way the one end of the trailer lifts up in the air when you drive the car on. Then we returned the rental car and drove back to Melbourne (again) to drop of the convertible and a mechanic and finally about 9:00 we got home. So that was my Wednesday and Thursday.

Moving again
So I started looking for a new place to live because I was uncomfortable having babysitters (strangers) in the house since the last one took my prescription medications and was drinking my rum. I also was not a huge fan of Ayla (puppy) going to the bathroom in the house and eating my underwear, and I didn't like being Kame's backup babysitter for $2 an hour (even if Kaden is one of the sweetest kids ever). As fate would have it Devin's roommate Noah got called to do border patrol and had to move to Texas so Devin needed a new roommate. Rather than have him find a new roommate on Craigslist and me try to find a new place to live on Craigslist I'm moving in with him. I'll be the first to admit that moving in together after dating/knowing each other for less than two months is not on the top of my smartest things to do list but I think it will work out well. I'll have my own room so if we get really sick of each other (which I doubt) I can just keep to my room. I finished moving all of my things today and gave Kame back her keys. I'm happy to be in a new place even if it is farther away from the beach.
