I'm engaged!

So here's the story...Devin and I were supposed to spend the morning together going to the zoo and the beach. I was really looking forward to it since it seems like I haven't been able to spend much time with him recently. However, at 7:20 this morning I got a call from Kristin asking me to cover her Gymboree classes (she sounded awful) and so I was really, really, really upset that I wouldn't get to spend the morning with Devin. I called Julie to see if she could take Kristin's last two classes so I could at least have lunch with Devin before I had to go to work at Sea Scape. Julie came in and covered the last three classes so I got to spend three hours with Devin.

After a quick lunch we went to our favorite beach (the one where we've seen sea turtles and a shark). We walked along the beach looking for shells and when I wanted to turn around and head back to the blanket he wanted to walk a little bit farther "to check out the rocks". When we got to the rocks he got down on one knee. I thought we were going to make sand castles or something so I got down on my knees too and then he pulled out my ring. For a while he was quiet and I started crying and then he asked me If I would spend the rest of my life with him which I of course said yes to. Then we spent the rest of our time relaxing, watching the waves, admiring my ring, and taking pictures of the spot where he proposed, of my ring, an dof us. I was glowing the rest of the day, or so I was told.

Launching rockets

Devin and I both had fun building rockets a while ago and we finally got some decent weather which means we had our rocket launch today. We went to a park in Viera with lots of space and set up our launch pad. We launched Devin's rocket first which was a two stage. It had a really awesome flight, especially when the second engine went off, but a not so awesome landing. We think the wadding was packed too tight and it basically was crumpled into the ground. The second rocket was one I built for my interview with Epic. It also had a good flight but we didn't see where it landed. I thought we had lost it but after half an hour of searching we finally found it. The other two rockets also had good flights and Devin caught them before they even had a chance to land. While we were out there we saw sand hill cranes flying by as well as white pelicans which are pretty rare.

After rockets we grabbed lunch and then enjoyed the lovely weather walking around Turkey Creek where we saw squirrels, gar, hard shell turtles, soft shell turtles, and an armadillo.

The yummiest castle of them all

For Christmas Devin got me a castle cake mold which I have not had a chance to use until now. Actually, I think we did make one cake with it but we ate it before I had a chance to have fun decorating it. For my first cake I decided to go with an under the sea theme. I had fun putting on the decorations and trying to ice it without it falling apart. My next one I am thinking along the lines of a haunted house. But I think I will leave all of the real bakery decorating to Heather. She is much better at it and must have much more patience than I do.

Alice in Wonderland

Devin and I finally went to go see Alice in Wonderland. I think I have been looking forward to this movie for over a year. I really really liked it, although, I'm not absolutely in love with it. It would be hard to completely live up to my expectations after anticipating it for so long. The best part is the gorgeous, whimsical world that you get transported to. I wish I could think up things like that. I also really liked the quote: "Mad Hatter: Have I gone mad? Alice: I'm afraid so, You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are." I am happy to say that most of my friends are entirely bonkers.

Strawberry fields forever

Devin insisted on surprising me this morning so after we had breakfast he blindfolded me and helped me get into his truck. We drove for about 5 minutes before we stopped and he helped me get out of the truck. When he took off the blindfold we were in a big parking lot and I still had no idea what was going on; then he told me that we were going to the Strawberry Festival. We had talked about it a loooooong time ago and he wanted to surprise me. The weather was warm, sunny, and perfect for walking around the festival which was in Wickham Park. There were lots of craft vendors set up as well as a car show with lots a very fancy cars. Devin bought us strawberry shortcakes which were delicious and fresh strawberries to take home. He was very happy about getting to spoil me and I had a nice relaxing morning.
