Sea Scape Party

This morning Devin and I went fishing with Mark again. Both Devin and I caught a trout and he also caught a ladyfish.

One of our staff members at the Sea Scape Motel (where I work) is leaving because she is moving out of state so we had a going away party at the Sea Scape. The owner's son also had a birthday coming up so it was a going away/birthday party. Everyone brought something to grill out (Devin had hamburgers and I had soy hotdogs) and snacks. This is the first time I've just hung out at the Sea Scape instead of working in the office. The hammock is very comfy.

I also finally got a web page up for them. They had payed some other company to do it and the page they made was crap so I told them I would put together a new one for them. Much headache later it is finally up and running so you can check out where I work at http://www.seascapefl.com/.

My first launch!

So I finally, on the 6th launch attempt, got to see the Space Shuttle Endeavour launch. Of course the other 4 times I went to see it launch I had my camera with the telephoto lens but not this time. I was at work so I went out to the beach and I took a picture with my phone. If I had remembered my camera the launch would have probably been scrubbed again. You could see the big fireball go up and disappear into the clouds and feel the rumble from the launch about 3 minutes after the actual launch.
About the launch: STS-127 is the 29th shuttle mission to the International Space Station. Endeavour sets sail on its 23rd mission with the Kibo Japanese Experiment Module Exposed Facility and Experiment Logistics Module Exposed Section. The facility will provide a type of "front porch" for experiments in the exposed environment, and a robotic arm that will be attached to the Kibo Pressurized Module and used to position experiments outside the station. The mission will include five spacewalks.

Gibson is my new puppy

I picked up a new puppy to foster from PetsMart today. His name is Gibson and he is a 6 month old rottweiler. He was a neglect case so he is malnourished and in need of some TLC. Gibson also had two siblings that were bigger than him and have apparently not been letting him get to the food bowl. That's ok because I'll spoil him and fatten him up. He and Grant seem to get along well. Gibson doesn't play as much as Curry did but he is also not chewing up everything like Curry did.

Rock climbing

Devin's birthday present was a trip to On the Edge which is an indoor rock climbing place. It was supposed to be a surprise but based on my apparently not so subtle hints he figured it out. It was set up pretty neat with auto belays so all you had to do was clip yourself in and start climbing. It was a little unnerving to let go of the wall for the first time. We had day passes but we only spent about two hours climbing before we were both completely tired out. About 15 minutes after we started neither one of us could feel our forearms. There was this little boy there who was climbing all of the most difficult walls which made us look really bad. There was one wall that I just couldn't seem to climb so now I need to go back and conquer it. I want to go back and climb some more.

Happy birthday Devin!

Devin turned 24 today so I made him breakfast (omelet, bacon, and hash browns) but then he had to go to work (booo). The picture is of the french silk pie that his dad helped me make for him. I got him a box of geodes that you get to break open and something else he doesn’t know about yet for his birthday. We went out to the conch key to meet up with his friends from Pizza Gallery and had a good time.

Happy blow stuff up day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July. Yay for our country! I started the day off in kind of a bad mood because I took Curry to PetCo for people to look at him and he was adopted. That is of course a good thing and the whole point of fostering, but they took my puppy and I was very, very unhappy about it. It was so hard to leave him behind and there may have been a few tears shed. The thought of adopting him myself had crossed my mind a couple of times. Hopefully he is very happy in his new home. It sounds like he will have pugs to play with which is good since he loves to play with other dogs.

Devin and I went to see the fireworks display in Cocoa because the Brevard Symphony Orchestra was playing and I haven’t heard them before. They were good and the fireworks were awesome. My favorites are the ones that snap, crackle, and pop. After the show we headed to the beach to meet Ryan and Trina with the $150 worth of fireworks that we bought. It was really closer to $300 worth since everything was buy one get one free. There were other people shooting off fireworks as well but ours were by far the biggest and best. We had fountains, spinners, firecrackers, sparklers, bottle rockets, roman candles (one of my favorites), and the big ones that you shoot from mortars. Then we headed back to the house and lit some black snakes in the driveway and then off to bed. More holidays should have fireworks.

I’m going to Diz Nee World

Shawn (friend from college) was in Orlando this week visiting his mom so I drove out to Orlando to visit him. His uncle works at Disney World so he hooked us up with free day passes to the parks. All day I pranced around singing, “I’m going to Disney World!” (those are thy only lyrics I could remember and they weren’t even right) because of the song Diz Nee Land by Dada. We went to Epcot first and went on the Finding Nemo ride, Sorin, and the car crashing ride. Then we headed off to the Animal Kingdom because I wanted to see the Tree of Life (which is awesome) and we went on a jungle safari and had dinner. Then we went to the Magic Kingdom and saw the castle, went through the haunted house ride, Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and probably some other rides that I’m forgetting about (Space Mountain was sadly closed). We got to see the fireworks which were amazing while eating ice cream. They had these really cool ones in the shape of stars. To end our awesome Disney adventure we watched the parade and I got to see Mickey, Genie, The Little Mermaid, Ursula, and lots of other characters. My life is awesome.
